Senior Assistant Librarian (Collection Development and Gift & Exchange)

The appointee will lead and serve as the head of the Collection Development and Gift & Exchange Team. He/She will be required to (a) formulate and maintain the policies and procedures for collection development, management, and gift and exchange; (b) supervise operations of collection acquisitions, development, management, donation/gift, and exchange; (c) monitor and plan budgets and expenditures for library resources; (d) negotiate price and license terms with library resource vendors; (e) manage the electronic resources and serials collections and discovery/online service platform; (f) supervise cataloguing of electronic resources and serials; and (g) manage in-house developed collection development and management systems. The appointee will also represent the University in the Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee (JULAC) working committees such as Consortiall and HKMAC.
Applicants should have (i) recognized professional qualification in Librarianship (MLS or equivalent); (ii) substantial supervisory experience in collection development and management, acquisitions, electronic and serials management, electronic resources cataloguing, and gift and exchange operations in an academic library; (iii) sound knowledge of current collection development and management practices and trends; (iv) demonstrated experience in utilizing information technology in collection development and management; (v) excellent coordination, planning, analytical, and project management skills; and (vi) a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Working knowledge of the Innovative Millennium/Sierra Library System will be advantageous.
