|OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
To provide guidance and ensure production of high quality WPR information products including efficient dissemination, sales and marketing, promotion, and evaluation of WPRO information products;
To ensure availability of valid health information products, in printed, electronic and other forms to WHO staff, other UN agencies and international organizations, in appropriate language and format;
To promote and enhance regional and global library activities and services; and
To ensure that cost-efficient and timely translation services are provided in the Organization.
|Description of duties:
The incumbent will carry out the following duties:
1. Support technical units in the production of technical documents, brochures and other information products (both in print and electronic forms);
A university degree in library science, communication, social sciences or another related field of study is essential. A degree in health sciences or public health is an advantage.
Essential: Knowledge in information, publishing and library services. Knowledge in managing translation and reproduction rights contracts including issues in copyrights. Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. Strong customer service abilities. Courtesy, tact and ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team, adapt to diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.
Desirable: Artistic creativity combined with sound business judgement. Excellent managerial and delegation skills. Ability to build and maintain external partner relationship. Ability to multi-task successfully in a highly-pressurized environment.
Other Skills: Demonstrated ability to use a computer and utilize software programs such as Microsoft Office Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, Outlook and Internet HTML. Thorough knowledge on the use of desktop publishing softwares such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, PageMaker, and CorelDraw. Other IT skills and knowledge of other software such as Visio and Microsoft SharePoint.
Minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional experience in programme management, communication or information science is essential. Experience in WHO, other UN agencies or in another international organization an asset.
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
