Assistant Professor to Associate Professor Cataloging Librarian
Character of Duties

The Richard Flores Taitano Micronesia Area Research Center (RFT MARC) seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic librarian, who can thrive in a multi-cultural environment and is self-motivated.

The Cataloging Librarian will be responsible for original and complex copy cataloging of a large backlog of items (approximately 10K) in print and other media related to Micronesia and the greater Pacific region, and maintenance of RFT-MARC catalog entries. The Cataloging Librarian will also assist with providing reference and research services to library patrons and will oversee one library technician.


  • MLS or MLIS  accredited by the ALA
  • Knowledge of current cataloging tools and techniques, including AARC2 and RDA
  • Minimum of one year professional cataloging experience
  • Proficiency with technology as it relates to information resources and services
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural institution and learning environment
  • Strong interpersonal communication and public service skills
  • Ability to meet academic promotion and tenure requirements


  • Minimum of two years cataloging experience in the past five (5) years with integrated library systems and electronic resources, including OCLC, SIRSI/Dynix, and Marcive WEBDOCS
  • Additional graduate degree in a subject area, particularly one applicable to ethnic or cultural studies of Oceania
  • Demonstrated ability to promote library services
